Survey: Bringing together the 4 German chapters
To support the current program for the possible merging of the four chapters currently in Germany - Berlin / Brandenburg, Cologne, Southern Germany and Frankfurt - two surveys were conducted in October 2018. In the first survey, the members of the chapter were asked “I welcome the idea of a German chapter unification and support the established program”.
This survey was conducted by the program team and with the support of the Presidents and Ambassadors of the three chapters Berlin / Brandenburg, Southern Germany and Frankfurt. The Cologne Chapter did not participate in the survey.
The second data collection was carried out by PMI itself. The PMI members, who are not members of a German chapter, were questioned.
In the first survey, a total of 3,174 Chapter members were interviewed.
- Participation rate of the survey was 11% with 350 valid answers.
- 73% of respondents would most likely or likely join a new unified chapter organization in Germany.
- 56% support the idea and the program to merge the chapters. Over 120 respondents (35%) have agreed to participate in interviews and focus groups to prepare for the possible unification of the chapters. Proposals have been made 93 times on how the German Chapter can better serve your professional development needs.
The second survey was sent to 4,800 PMI members who are not members of a chapter.
- With 10%, the participation was like that of the Chapter Members survey (11%).
- 40% of PMI members would join a unified chapter in Germany, while only 30% would join a chapter in the current structure.
- On the question of which form of chapter they would prefer, 25% voted for the model of a unified chapter. 15% would leave the structure as it is now.
The low participation in the surveys is due to the fact that the survey should capture a first opinion in order to justify the program itself. The future model of a unified chapter in Germany will be developed in the program and then presented in detail. The members are interviewed again and can evaluate the elaborated options.
In the first quarter of 2019 the program will elaborate the model with the different options and then present it to the members. The possible ways to transform into a common Germany-wide chapter should also be shown.
