PMI BerlinBrandenburg Logo

The PMI Berlin/Brandenburg Chapter (PMI BB Chapter) was approved (chartered) by the Project Management Institute on 13 February 2004 and has been continuously expanded as a local representation, thanks to the commitment of founding members Steffi Triest and Prof. Dieter Pumpe. The PMI BB Chapter has the legal status of a registered association and serves the purpose of stimulating, promoting and disseminating the methodology and application of project management in all social areas for the benefit of the general public. Project management in this regard covers project, program and portfolio management. Members and guests have the opportunity to exchange information and experiences and to network in regular events.

Vision and goals

In addition to the PMI ®global offering, The PMI BB chapter is intended to be THE local point of contact for project managers who are based or work temporarily in the region where the chapter is active. As sponsors, companies should be given the opportunity to gain access to a community of professional project managers through the PMI BB chapter, to acquire more visibility in the project management field and to support the chapter in return.

The main objectives of the association are: the professional development of the members, the exchange of ideas among colleagues as well as the establishment and maintenance of a high-quality network in the region. High-quality events enable attendees to obtain Professional Development Units (PDUs) needed for ongoing recertification. Another goal of the PMI BB Chapter is to encourage volunteering in the association in order to provide members and guests with a wide range of services and to provide volunteers with the opportunity to personally develop and obtain PDUs.
Last but not least, the PMI BB Chapter provides a communication platform for those interested in project management with the aim of promoting exchange and cooperation at the regional, national and international level.

Chapter’s organization

The PMI BB Chapter is based in Berlin and is responsible regionally for all the eastern part of Germany. This covers the postal codes 01000 – 19999, 39000 – 39999 and 98000 – 99999. The management board of the PMI BB Chapter is constituted of passionate and generous volunteer members who are committed to the honorary office and are elected by the general assembly. To accomplish its mission in the whole region, the chapter supports dedicated volunteers in establishing and organizing so-called local groups. The chapter advertises volunteering opportunities for members who would like to get involved, in order to implement special projects and accomplish chapter activities.

Media and events

The PMI Berlin/Brandenburg Chapter offers multiple different events:

  • Chapter Meetings are the chapter's main events. They usually include two presentations on a certain topic about project management and offer thereafter a "get-together" as an opportunity to network.
  • Profession Circles usually cover a project management topic in depth.
  • Company Days provide a deep insight into the processes of a company or organization in the context of the projects presented.
  • The PMI regular meeting offer the opportunity to discuss project management topics in a community of project managers in a relaxed atmosphere.

The PMI BB Chapter maintains its own website and regularly publishes newsletters.
